Tips to Prepare for Your B.O.S.S. Workshop

Congratulations on signing up for your B.O.S.S. Workshop!

Although the time will fly when you’re having fun, your body and brain will need to be prepared in order for you to most effectively engage as well as receive and retain the information that you will be equipped and empowered to use. We suggest the following:

1. Take Care of Your Body So It Can Take Care of You

  • Get at least 8 hours of rest prior to the start of each session.
  • Keep your water, tea, coffee, electrolytes, or whatever you need to stay hydrated and infused on hand throughout the workshop
  • A grazing tray is recommended as well. Nuts, fresh fruits, dry fruits, fruit cups, vegetables, sliced meats, meat sticks, cheese, etc. (if no allergies)

2. Find a Place Where You Can Focus

Attend the workshop in a space where you are less likely to be interrupted by family or pets. You might consider reserving a space at your local library, renting a co-op workspace, asking a family member or friend who may be out of town during the workshop dates if you can utilize their space (Don’t forget to get the Wi-Fi password!). If attending from home where family and pets may interrupt you, try to choose a closed in space – versus a common area like the kitchen or family den – with a door in which you can place a sign on the closed door that reads: IN A WORKSHOP. DO NOT DISTURB.

3. Keep Your Camera on, But Be Mindful of Privacy

Having your camera on will offer more of that face-to-face type of interaction we all love at in-person events. So, while we suggest you keep your camera on as much as possible, be sure not to have anything in the background that will jeopardize your privacy (delivered packages with your home address, images of children, family members, diplomas, degrees, certificates, awards with personal information you may not want to publicize, etc.). Consider blurring out your background, using a virtual background, green screen, choosing an area with a solid wall, etc.

4. Take Advantage of Breaks

During the writing breaks, feel free to:

  • Mute your microphone
  • Turn off your camera
  • Stand up
  • Stretch
  • Step outside and grab some fresh air
  • Take a couple of minutes to close your eyes and rest your brain
  • Grab a bite
  • Relocate to another room for a change of scenery
  • Take a bathroom break

Whatever you need to keep your body comfortable and your brain engaged.

5. Share As Much As Possible So We Can Help You

We strongly encourage you to share as much of your stories and personal and business journey as possible so that we can best help you workshop through them. Keep in mind that although we will do some one-on-one, hands-on workshopping, it will be done in a group setting. There will be other attendees in the space engaging in the service of listening. The workshop will also be recorded for replay viewing.

You are not required to share your stories. It’s 100% optional. But what makes this workshop unique and stand out from others you may have attended is the fact that we don’t just tell you what you need to do, we help you do it. Our instructors offer hands-on guidance in building the foundation for your stories. This is in addition to our equipping and empowering you with the tools and strategies for you to easily continue laying the bricks throughout your business journey.

6. Be Prepared to Use Your Laptop, Computer, Tablet, or Type Into Your Phone

Some activities will require repetition. It will be better if you can simply copy and paste information you already have written versus writing or typing it again. We do, though, suggest you have a writing notebook as well as the digital workbook you will receive two days prior to the workshop on hand. If you’re able to attend the workshop on one device and use another device to type on, that is suggested as well. The more options the better, but no single option is the wrong option, and never let what you don’t have stop you.

We Can’t Wait!

We’re looking forward to helping you craft and cultivate your creative, compelling, and catchy stories that will stick to the minds and hearts of your clients and target audience.
